Join your fellow RREnthusiasts for a special outing to Portland Maine. Our day includes the following options: 

 • A round-trip ride aboard Amtrak's Downeaster to Portland, Maine. (Included in options 'A' and 'B') 

 • Portland Sea Dogs game (Included in options 'A' & 'C' only) 

 • Local transportation from/to Amtrak station, Hadlock Field, Portland waterfront. (Included in options 'A' and 'B') 

 • A ride on the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. (Individual settlement) 

 • A Casco Bay Cruise. (Individual settlement - see below) 

OPTION 'A' INCLUDES:

• Round-trip fare on the Downeaster from Boston or points north.

• Ticket to Portland Sea Dogs game.    

• Ground transportation from/to Amtrak station, Hadlock Field, Maine Narrow Gauge and the Maine State Pier & downtown waterfront district. 

OPTION 'B' INCLUDES: 

• Round-trip fare on the Downeaster from Boston or points north.  

• Ground transportation from/to Amtrak station, the Maine Narrow Gauge and the Maine State Pier & downtown waterfront district.  (Does not include ticket to Portland Sea Dogs game.) 

OPTION 'C' INCLUDES:

• Ticket to Portland Sea Dogs Game only (Does not include ground transportation in Portland.) 

DOWNEASTER: 

We'll be heading to Portland on Downeaster train 691, departing North Station at 8:50 AM and Woburn at 9:08 AM. See https://amtrakdowneaster.com/schedule/ for departure times at other stations. We'll be returning on Downeaster train 698, departing Portland at 6:33 PM and arriving North Station at 9:05 PM. Our group fare is good for travel to Portland from North Station or any other station further north on the line. Please indicate your boarding location when you order your tickets. 

Portland Sea Dogs Game: 

We have group tickets to the Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox AA affiliate) game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NY Mets AA affiliate) game at Hadlock Field. The game starts at 1:00 PM. The Option 'A' package includes transportation from the Amtrak station to the Ball park. Following the game (probably around 2:30 - 3:00), our shuttles will take you to the waterfront district of Portland, where you will have the opportunity to grab a bite to eat, or ride the 4:00 Maine Narrow Gauge train (individual settlement). 

Maine Narrow Gauge:

The Maine Narrow Gauge offers 45 minute trips along the Portland waterfront at noon, 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00. Those choosing Option 'B' will have the opportunity to ride any of these trips (the noon trip if we're lucky!). Our shuttles will ferry passengers from the Amtrak station to the Portland waterfront at the intersection of Franklin and Commercial Streets, adjacent to the Maine State Pier. The MNG is a short walk away. Purchase your tickets directly from the MNG. Adult coach fares are $18.85, Senior fares are $16.75. We are working to get a discount fare for our participants - more information to follow.&

Casco Bay Mailboat Cruise:

Casco Bay Lines offers a mailboat cruise departing from the Maine State Pier at noon. This is a 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hour cruise, depending on route and and cargo volume. This is the locals’ favorite way to experience Casco Bay – this true working boat carries passengers, mail and freight to Little Diamond, Great Diamond, Long, Cliff and Chebeague Islands. Fares are $24 for adults and $20 for seniors (individual settlement). If you are interested in this option, be sure to check the box on the order form and we will endeavor to get you to the the ferry terminal in time. (Connection not guaranteed and subject to on-time arrival of the Downeaster). 

Shuttle service: 

Upon our arrival on the Downeaster in Portland, our shuttles will take you to Hadlock Field for the Sea Dogs Game (Option 'A'). Following the game, shuttles will take you to the waterfront at the Maine State Pier. The MNG and waterfront restaurants are just a short walk away For those choosing Option 'B', our shuttles will take you directly to the waterfront at the Maine State Pier. From there you may chose to ride the MNG, take the noon Mail Boat cruise, or explore the waterfront district on your own. Shuttles will pick up all passengers at the Maine State Pier on Commercial Street at 5:30 PM for the return to the Amtrak station in time for our 6:33 Departure. All shuttles are included in your fare for options 'A' & 'B'. Shuttle service not included in option 'C' (Sea Dogs game only).
