Time to step up! Board candidates wanted!

For some time we've been talking about the need for fresh blood and new faces in Mass Bay RRE's leadership. Many of us have been doing this for decades, and it's time to start passing the torch to a new generation of leaders.

This year presents an ideal opportunity to step up and become part of the future of your club. This fall we will hold elections for our officers (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) and four Directors, all to two-year terms. Our President, Dave Brown, has made clear his desire to retire as President after his next term ends in 2024 (assuming he is reelected this year), and our Treasurer, Charlie Jack, will also be stepping down in November of 2024.

Our nominating committee, consisting of Dave Brown, Al Butler and Jerry Angier, invites prospective candidates to declare their interest by submitting an "Application/Declaration of Candidacy," which can be found using the links below. The nominating committee will interview all applicants before recommending a slate of candidates to the Mass Bay RRE Board of Directors. That slate will appear on the proxy ballot to be voted on by the membership later this fall. We request that applications be submitted not later than Saturday, October 8.

As Mass Bay RRE has evolved from a club focused on running train excursions to more broadly-based public charity with a significant Preservation Fund and grant program, we are particularly looking for people with relevant experience in business and/or in other non-profit organizations. You wouldn't be reading this if you didn't have some interest in trains, but being a hard-core railfan is definitely not a prerequisite!
