Mass Bay RRE Rockland "Road-Rail-Air" Tour

Eight of our riders went from Rockland to the Knox County Regional Airport for an aerial sightseeing tour of the mid-Maine coast. Though fog interfered, they were able to see several lighthouses and other points of interest in two chartered Cessna aircraft from Penobscot Island Air.

Others from our Mass Bay RRE tour visited the Maine Lighthouse Museum and the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, or checked out the ships in Rockland Harbor including the Vinalhaven and North Haven state ferries, or visited the Owl's Head Lighthouse. For some, a fresh seafood dinner complemented their visit. Though the Union Station Grille in the Rockland depot had closed suddenly in June, Maine Eastern opened the waiting room for us to view. A state-funded renovation of the exterior has begun, according to MERR Vice President Gordon Page.
