Mass Bay RRE Rockland "Road-Rail-Air" Tour

After a quick transfer to our motorcoach, we headed south. At Portland, we drove along the waterfront, then left several passengers who planned to ride Amtrak's Down-easter home. Dining car Penobscot Bay, sent north from MERR's New Jersey parent Morristown & Erie, was in the Amtrak yard, waiting for a freight move to Brunswick. We reached South Station about 9:15 PM, after an enjoyable day filled with activity in mid-coast Maine.

Thanks to RRE members Vic Campbell (our tour leader), Dave Brown and Ralph Hawkins for their assistance, and to the staffs , at the Maine Eastern Railroad, the Owl's Head Transportation Museum, Penobscot Island Air, Crystal Transport and Amtrak for making our day complete.
