The Berkshire County Rambler

0954 Restoration Work Continues, Funded By H. Albert Webb Grant

After the Rambler got back to Lenox, BSRM’s chief mechanical officer Tom Delasco (left) spoke with riders about the restoration of BSRM’s ex-Maine Central S1 954 (currently lettered 0954, as in steamera New Haven practice).

In 2009, BSRM began a complete restoration of 954 that has included replacing worn-out wheels, rebuilding the body shell and preparing for its complete repainting and relettering. Last winter, RRE member Leigh Webb chose the 954 project to receive the 2011 H. Albert Webb Award, named for his father. The award grant will help complete the body rebuild, painting and relettering.
