The following are Internet links to sites of public and private organizations that operate passenger or freight services in New England:

Amtrak - This site allows you to schedule your trip, locate your nearest station, reserve a ticket and many other things.

Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad - Train rides and excursions from Belfast, Maine. Operated by Brooks Preservation Society.

Berkshire Scenic Railroad - Providing entertaining and educational tourist train rides between Lenox and Stockbridge in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts.

Cape Cod Central Railroad - "What a difference the train makes." Award winning Elegant Dinner Train, Luncheon Train, Sunday Brunch Train, Family Supper Train, and Narrated Scenic Train. One of the Cape Rail Inc. Companies.

Conrail - As of February 2002, the page is still there, but mainly as a switchboard to either CSX or Norfolk Southern. As of their last posting in 1999, they are still operating lines around Detriot, Philadelphia, and northern New Jersey.

Conway Scenic Railroad - Providing nostalgic train rides through the beautiful Mt. Washington Valley and surrounding White Mountains of New Hampshire, from the historic North Conway Station.

Green Mountain Railroad - This site features Rails-VT, the home of Scenic Rail Excursions, and is an affiliated road with the Vermont Rail System.

Pan Am Railways - Formerly Guilford Rail System. Provides information about the Pan Am Railways System, and includes a brief historical account of the system.

Hobo Railroad - Provides information on the Hobo Railroad, which runs through the NH White Mountains, and the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad, which runs through the NH lakes region.

MBTA - Provides schedules and maps, ticket information, access services and other information about the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

The Maine Eastern Railroad - Offers scenic coastline views between Rockland and Brunswick.

The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad - Operates along the Eastern Promenade fronting Casco Bay, in Portland, with historic two-foot gauge railroad cars.

Mass Central Railroad - As America's Intermodal Shortline, it operates 25 miles of track between Palmer and South Barre, MA. No active link found.

Mass Coastal Railroad - "Partnership in Motion." A Massachusetts based freight railroad company, a subsidiary of Cape Rail, Inc., which uses Ingenuity and Innovation to provide freight transportation services to entities within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts while maintaining an environmentally conscious and community focused presence in the fragile ecosystems and historic communities of southeastern Massachusetts.

New England Central Railroad - Operates 394 miles of railroad between the Vermont/Quebec border, and tidewater at the Port of New London, CT. A subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming.

The Providence and Worcester Railroad - "The railroad that can...and will," serving southern New England.

The Old Colony and Newport Scenic Railroad - Travels along the shore of Aquidneck Island in a 1904 open platform coach or 1884 parlor car.

Norfolk Southern Railroad - "The thoroughbred of transportation."

The Valley Railroad / Essex Steam Train - The Essex Steam Train and Riverboat Ride, along the Connecticut River.

Iron Road Railways - No longer exists. Assets have been divided. Once known as the Bangor & Aroostoock System, it included the Bangor & Aroostoock Railroad, the Northern Vermont Railroad, the Canadian American Railroad, and Logistics Management Systems. As of Feb 2002.

White Mountain Central Railroad - Provides two-and-one-half-mile excursions behind a wood-burning steam Climax locomotive.

Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum - Ride historic trains and relive history in Alna, Maine.

Genesee & Wyoming Inc - A holding company of shortline railroads across the US and Canada, including the New England Central Railroad, and the Connecticut Southern Railroad.

The Claremont Concord Railroad - Serving Clarement and Lebanon, New Hampshire, with connections to the world, this railroad has existed for over 120 years.
