The Housatonic Flyer
The Museum occupies the ex-New Haven Danbury yard - a nearly intact small terminal, tucked inside an unusual loop track, which very much resembles a model railroad. DRM's volunteer staff, including president Ira Pollack, stationmaster (and Mass Bay RRE member) David Lowry, and Railyard Local newsletter editor Carolyn Taylor, greeted us. Many Flyer passengers roved about the Museum's extensive display of preserved equipment or rode its
"Railyard Local," working ex-NH Budd Rail Diesel Car 32, complete with an evocative Hancock air whistle. Some of them, who had not seen Boston & Maine B-15-c 2-6-0 1455 (Manchester, 1907) since she left Edaville, were pleased to find her here, cosmetically restored, following a sojourn in Hyannis after EDA
shut down in 1992.
