The Day Cape Codder II

Mass Bay RRE ran its Day Cape Codder II over Cape Cod Central and Mass Coastal Saturday, May 14, 2011. The soldout special carried 251 riders on 43 miles of the ex-New Haven “Cape Main” between the Middleboro/Lakeville MBTA station and Yarmouth and the Hyannis Branch beyond to Hyannis.

Our train left Hyannis deadhead at 7 AM and arrived at West Barnstable at 7:25 AM to pick up passengers and RRE staff. The consist included MC GP9u 2007 (replaced by MC GP9RM 2008 at Rochester), snack-bar coach 102 Sandwich, table cars 202 Great Island, 203 Race Point, 201 Sandy Neck, rebuilt lounge 200 Cape Codder, a kitchen/generator car, and CCC GP9 1501.
