Mass Bay RRE's North Country Steam Special

Once through the Gate of the Notch, our special stopped at Crawford Notch Station to take water, while our passengers and the “chasers” shot photos from all angles and visited the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Macomber Information Center in the 1891 ex-MEC depot. 252 coupled on for dynamic braking on the 2% drop to Fabyan before we started west, easing downhill in thick woods to a cleared area offering a sweeping view of the Presidential Range, with the historic Mount Washington Hotel in the foreground. At Fabyan, 252 uncoupled and 7470 took up the load once more.
